Karaoke Night

It had been a few days since Mr. Houseton's visit and things hadn't been all that busy around the complex. Today she'd literally sat around from four-thirty to five just waiting to lock up and head home.

Thursdays was karaoke at Mulaney's. Gina called yesterday to say that Stacey and some of the boys were planning to go. She'd been back and forth all day. She loved karaoke, but there was a part of her that just wanted to go home and sleep.

By five o'clock she'd decided that she was still young and since you only live once, never pass up a chance to go out and score free drinks. With Stacey's crowd of guys there were always free drinks. Gina had known Stacey since college, they'd been roommates their first year.

Stacey worked for the local newspaper as the entertainment editor, so part of her job was keeping up with what was fresh in the area. She'd made lots of rich friends who liked to spend money, many of them were older and married. They wouldn't risk a public affair, but they loved to flirt with Stacey's young single friends.

She'd just gotten home and opened the closet when the phone rang. She saw Gina's pic on the display and answered.

"Hey hooker."

"Sup, Skank? You at home?"

"Yeah, what are you wearing tonight?"

"You'll see in a minute." Missie laughed as Gina disconnected the call. Tossing the phone onto her bed she went to unlock the door then into the kitchen to pour a couple glasses of wine. She heard Gina come through the door and toss her purse on the coffee table.

"Honey, I'm home."

She met Gina in the hallway and handed her a glass while giving her outfit a once over. She wore a dark denim skirt that hit at her knees and a knit tank-top with a sequin design. her hair was flawless, and her shoes were fabulous. Three and a half inch strappy heels in silver, matching the sequins.

"Why do you always look so damn cute. I can't compete with this." Missie waved a hand toward her friend and laughed. They continued down the hall into her bedroom to pour through her closet.

"It's a curse I guess. What about this?" She pulled a sequined backless party dress from the closet and waved it at Missie. "This is super cute!'

Missie laughed and took the dress, hanging it back in the closet. "It's a party dress that I wore for New Year's Eve. I'm not wearing that to Mulaney's." Gina continued to pull out every super dressy thing that Missie owned, and Missie turned them down one by one. She wasn't trying to walk the run-way for karaoke.

Eventually she settled on a pair of skinny jeans and a banded halter top in green. She found a huge pair of earrings and pulled her hobo bag from the floor of her closet. She really needed to get in there and clear out some stuff, but the likelihood of that happening this year was slim to none.

The two drank a half bottle of wine before calling Tommy to see if he wanted to grab dinner. Tommy was Gina's cousin and he went out with them most of the time. He and Missie hooked up a few years ago when he came home from college but it was light and friendly, so it was never awkward. He'd actually been dating the same girl for the past year and Missie really liked her. She came out with them every now and then.

When they got to the Mexican restaurant down the road from Missie's house Tommy was already at a booth in the smoking section. Gina dropped her purse across from him and walked to the bathroom. Missie slid in and gave him a hug.

"What's up?" Tommy drawled.

"Oh you know," Missie said, "Just workin' and goofin' off. How about you?"

Tommy shrugged and lifted his beer to his lips. He drained about half the glass before setting it back down.

"Rough day?"  Missie laughed, opening a menu.

"Kendra broke up with me." Tommy lifted a hand, "Don't want to talk about it. Just letting you know."

Missie closed her mouth, she'd been poised to pry for details, but if he didn't want to talk, that was all fine to her. She'd just assume not get wrapped up in it anyway. She wasn't soft and fuzzy, hence all the male friends and Gina.

Gina came back out and the two ordered a pitcher of the house Sangria and split a platter of nachos. Dinner convo flowed and everyone avoided talking about Kendra. They dropped Tommy's car at Missie's apartment then went on to Mulhaney's. Stacey had texted to say that they would be there around 8:45, so they grabbed a bigger table and ordered some drinks.

"Tina asked about you this weekend." Tommy commented. Missie just nodded. Tina was her ex's mother. She'd always liked her. When she and Brian, the ex, broke up, Tina had e-mailed her to say she missed her. But luckily when Missie didn't respond she didn't push the issue.

"That was sweet of her. So you know that if you get wasted you're crashing on my couch, right?" Quickly changing the subject Missie motioned toward the drink in front of him. He'd finished his massive beer, helped with the Sangria, and ordered a liquor drink at the restaurant. He was already on his way and he had another draft now.

"Just plan on it." He shrugged. Missie felt bad for Tommy. She didn't know what happened with Kendra, but she knew Tommy really had liked her.

Stacey showed up with their friend Jeana and a couple of guys from her office. She'd met one of them before, but the rest of them were unfamiliar faces. Once everyone had crowded around the table Gina came back with a songbook and a ton of karaoke slips.

Thirty minutes later they were cheering for Stacey and one of her co-workers as they crooned Air Supply. Tommy was smashed, Gina was chatting up one of the new guys, and Missie was checking her watch. Not that she wasn't having fun, but she was hoping for a little more out of the evening. She glanced up and noticed a tall young guy heading for their table. Stacey waved to him from the stage, and Gina's conquest stood to do the manly handshake, back pat thing.

John, the guy that was chatting with Gina, introduced him to the table.

"Everybody this is Mike." He waved to everyone and sat in the empty seat next to Missie. She smiled and stuck out a hand.

"I'm Missie. You know this crowd?" Mike smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. I just started working with them about a week ago. John mentioned everyone would be out here tonight so I thought I'd check it out."

He was tall, but not too lanky. His brown hair was just long enough to have some wave, but not quite long enough to be called shaggy. He couldn't have been any older than 30, though Missie suspected he was even younger. They applauded when Stacey and her friend left the stage and then the DJ called Missie to the stage.

Missie looked to Gina, "I didn't sign up for anything." Gina laughed and nodded towards Stacey.

"Yeah, you did. Go rock it out, girl." Stacey took her hand and pulled her from her seat shoving Missie towards the stage. It wasn't that Missie didn't do karaoke. She just hadn't planned on it tonight. She usually had much more to drink if she planned to take the stage.

She made her way to the microphone and caught a glimpse of the prompter. Shit. She thought. They'd signed her up to sing The Divinyls! The familiar chords began to pour out of the speakers and the boys started to clammer over themselves. Missie just laughed and began to sing along with the lyrics.

"I love myself, I want you to love me..." Stacey and Gina began to sing along and by the chorus most of the little bar had joined it. Missie laughed and danced around. Everyone loved it, including her. Her new friend, Mike, was laughing and clapping. She caught sight of Tommy at the bar who was smiling for the first time since they'd met him at dinner.

"I don't want anybody else, when I think about you I touch myself, aaaahh" She sang and laughed and when she left the stage the whole bar was shouting. Tommy rejoined the table and Mike was looking at her as though she were some treasure he'd discovered. Oh Lord. She thought.

"I should've done that one myself, girl." Stacey gave her a hug, "I didn't realize it'd make you a celebrity!" They all laughed and the guys begged Missie to get up and sing again, but it was getting late, and she needed to catch some sleep before tomorrow. Fridays were always long days because she worked at the complex in the morning and at Jameson's at night.

"Can I get your number?' Mike asked. Missie smiled and took his phone, programming herself into his contacts. She'd sent Tommy to the bar to settle his tab, but Gina had slipped off with her new friend.

"I'll make sure she gets home." Stacey said. I've only had two, I actually drove John and Matt so she'll be ok with me." Stacey was sipping on diet soda now, and she really was fine.

"Thanks, girl. I hate to bail but I have to get some sleep tonight." Stacey hugged her and Missie said goodbye to the table. Tommy was waiting at the door. They pushed out onto the sidewalk and headed up to where she'd parked on the street.

"Nice song." He laughed.

"Yeah, well. You know Stacey." She laughed. "It was fun though."

"Well, I imagine there were quite a few guys in that bar picturing you naked, touching yourself after that one." He nudged her.

She sidestepped laughing. "Uh-huh, and I suppose you were one of them."

He laughed. "Only my imagining is likely more accurate." He winked, causing Missie to laugh harder. She shrugged.

"Yeah, I guess so." They got into the car and Missie drove back to her place. She let Tommy control the radio and rolled the windows down. It was a nice fall night. The air was crisp but not too cold. They got back to her place and she dropped her purse on the table.

"Just let me get you some.." Tommy cut her off, pressing her against the door and covering her mouth with his. She pressed her hands against his chest to push him away, but he changed the angle of the kiss, eliciting a moan instead.

His hands gripped her waist as his strong thigh wedged between hers. She instinctively rolled her hips seeking pressure. Tommy's sharp intake of breath broke the kiss and offered a moment of clarity.

"Bad Idea." Missie moaned, still loving the feeling of his hands on her skin.

"Great Idea." Tommy lowered his mouth to her throat, nibbling under ear.

"That's no fair." She moaned.

"Just tonight, Missie. Just let me have tonight." He covered her mouth again and Missie gave it up. She'd been horny all week, and if it made him feel a little better so be it.

She reached up to lock the door and let him back her down the hallway to her room. Undressing, they fell to the bed in a tangle of limbs. He slid a hand between her thighs, testing her wetness. Truth was she'd been wet since she was onstage with all those people eating out of her hand.

He moaned in appreciation and his mouth latched onto a nipple. She squirmed beneath him, her fingers gripping his shoulders. She was ready, and he probably wouldn't last long. Missie squirmed away and rolled on top of him. She reached for a condom in her bedside table and quickly covered him. His hands on her hips she lifted and guided him to her entrance.

She sank down over him and closed her eyes. God that felt good. She began to move her hips, taking him in and out of her. She could feel him hardening within her, and knew that he was getting close. Too close, too soon. She reached down and pulled on his sac. He brought a hand between them and tugged at her clit. She came down on him and he rubbed against her little nub. She let go of him and rode him hard while he played with her. She felt him explode inside of her and saw the pleasure on his face. The pressure of his hand increased and her orgasm spread through her. She moaned and closed her eyes again, concentrating on the pleasure rolling through her.

She sighed, sliding off of him. He was too wasted to be good for anymore than that. She kissed his cheek before going into the bathroom to clean up. She came out in a t-shirt and he'd already been into her other bathroom, obviously, because he was now in his boxers.

"You want me to sleep on the couch?" He ran a hand through his hair, awkwardly glancing around. Missie giggled and tossed a pillow at him.

"Shut up and get in the bed." She pulled back the sheets climbed in, Tommy sliding in next to her.

"So we're good?" He asked. She laughed and turned her back to him, flipping off the lamp.

"We're good." Missie said. "Goodnight." Tommy surprised her with a quick hug.

"Goodnight."
