Phone Call

Gina kicked her shoes off as she walked in the door. Her apartment on the other side of town wasn't the comfy cozy apartment that Missie's was. It was more utilitarian. Her decor was modern. Lots of clean lines and empty surfaces. She should really try to spruce it up, but she was so rarely home anymore.

She'd had a couple glasses of wine at Missie's and retold some of her Josh stories from college. It was just crazy that HE was the hottie that Missie had been talking about a few weeks earlier! It worked out that Missie had Mike now. Gina would have probably died if Missie had moved in on Josh before she knew that he was Gina's college hottie. Luckily it wouldn't be an issue.

Gina tossed her bag on the table and hooked her keys by the door. She was headed for the bathroom when her phone buzzed with a text message. She grabbed it as she headed down the hall.

Hey, can you talk right now?

It was Josh. Not wanting to be the girl who waits with her phone in her hand, she went to the restroom and changed into some comfy lounge pants before texting him back.

Yeah, just got home.

Then she sat on her bed and waited. It took about two minutes for the phone to ring. "Hello?" She answered as casually as possible.

"Hey, It's Josh." She smiled.

"How are you settling in?" She asked. They chatted for a few minutes about his job and the area, she recommended places to avoid and a few restaurants.

"Maybe you could show me sometime?" Josh asked, when she told him her favorite Italian place.

"That would be nice." Gina smiled into the phone. She flashed back to one night they'd ordered Italian take-out and brought it back to his apartment. They'd barely touched their food when they pounced on each other. That had been a fun night. she coughed to cover up her nostalgic sigh.

He laughed, and she didn't want to ask why, so she kept going. "Maybe once you get settled we can check it out."

"How about Sunday?" He asked.

"Sunday would be fine with me." she grinned and bit her lip.

"Ok, I'll let you go then. I'll call you that afternoon to get directions."

"Alright."

They said goodnight and hung up the phone. Gina dropped the phone on the bedspread. She couldn't wait until Sunday.
